The Paveisininkų Mound, located on the southern shore of Lake Veisiejai, is an important historical site that reveals the ancient Jotvingian culture. The mound's platform is oval and elongated, measuring 30x24 meters, and is surrounded by a defensive rampart. The defensive system includes various terraces and ditches that were utilized for the protection of the fortress. In the northern part of the rampart, remnants of the old entrance indicate the structure of the fortifications. At the foot of the mound, an ancient settlement was discovered, and archaeological excavations led by Dr. P. Kulikauskas and Dr. V. Daugudis revealed fragments of pottery, molded clay, and remnants of a burial ground.

The research indicated that the defensive ramparts were constructed in several phases, and the fortress walls were wooden. Even before the mound was established, the area was used as a burial site, where 27 cremation graves were uncovered. This mound is not only a cultural monument but also a wonderful destination for tourists interested in history and the natural beauty of the Meteliai Regional Park.
