In the village of Šulnelių, on May 2, 1950, bloody clashes occurred with a Chekist military unit, during which Albinas Vabuolas, codenamed Varna, the commander of the Mindaugas Company of the Šarūnas Battalion in the Dainava District, lost his life. He was born in 1925 in Stankūnai village, along with Antanas Jaruševičius, known as Klevas, the commander of the 2nd Platoon, who was born in 1922 in Jurčiūnai village.
