Established in 1981, the Aleksandras Griškevičius Memorial Museum invites visitors to learn about one of the pioneers of Lithuanian aviation. Aleksandras Griškevičius, who lived in the 19th century, was the first to both theoretically and practically attempt to prove that humans could ascend into the air like birds. Located in the aviator's residence, the museum showcases the concept and model of the "garlėkis" flying machine, along with other exhibits related to aviation and Griškevičius's life. In addition to aviation history, visitors can explore the ethnographic household and traditions of the 19th and early 20th centuries in the Viekšniai region, as well as the works of local folk artists, including J. Rušinas, reflecting the cultural heritage and history of the area.
