In 2000, a memorial was established in Vyžuonai to honor two notable writers – poet Antanas Masionis (1941–1974) and novelist Bronius Radzevičius (1940–1980). Sculptor Henrikas Orakauskas created sculptures placed on a small hill near Radzevičius' childhood home. Radzevičius gained fame for his modern prose during the Soviet era, exploring the existential crisis of the post-war generation. He received the Lithuanian National Prize in 1991. In 2007, a monument was erected near the local administration and school to further honor him.
Masionis' contemplative poetry focused on dramatic and intellectual themes. Despite their early deaths, both writers' influence endures. They are buried in Vyžuonai Cemetery and remembered as honorary citizens of the town. Sculptor Orakauskas also received honorary citizenship for his contribution.
