In this region, you can find several interesting boulders, but the Moko and Mokiukas stones are particularly noteworthy. The Moko stone, standing 2.8 meters high, measuring 3.66 meters in length, 3.3 meters in width, and with a perimeter of 9.64 meters, is protected by the state as a natural and cultural heritage site. Nearby lies the smaller stone known as Mokiukas. According to legend, there was a man named Mokas who lived with his family—his wife and son. This hardworking family was tired of the laziness of others, and Mokas, frustrated, stopped working and was cursed by the local people. Deciding to move across Lake Tauragnas, Mokas instructed his family not to look back while rowing. Unfortunately, his wife turned around and drowned. Mokas and his son successfully reached the other shore, but overwhelmed by grief for their lost family member, they were turned into stones.
