In 1939, a monument was erected in the town of Vyžuonos, the birthplace of the Riflemen’s Union leader Colonel Pranas Saladžius (1893–1965), to mark this significant anniversary. It is the only monument of its kind in Lithuania. The project was designed and built by the Riflemen brothers Žiedai from the village of Garneliai. During the Soviet occupation, the monument was demolished and buried, but in 1989, it was restored and ceremoniously unveiled again in 1990.
