The first Roman Catholic church in Leliūnai was built in 1698. Later, J. Pomarnackas, the owner of the Leliūnai estate, constructed a second sanctuary. The current church, built between 1901 and 1905, features a unique mix of Gothic, Romanticism, and Modernism styles. The design was created by engineer A. Kulieša, and construction was carried out by a Latvian, Anzolis. The bricks were produced in the Leliūnai and Sungailiškiai estates.
The church is renowned for its impressive organ, crafted by the Gebel organ firm in Königsberg. Brought to the church in 1813 by Father A. Masaitis, the 21-register organ is considered one of the finest historical instruments in Lithuania and is included in the Register of Cultural Heritage. The churchyard also features a red-brick chapel, adding to the historical value of the sanctuary.
