St. George’s Church

According to legend, St. George's Church was built by the Crusaders on the site of an ancient pagan shrine. This Gothic church, constructed around 1460, is considered the oldest building in Kėdainiai and is located by the Varlupis stream.
In 1549, the church was taken over by Protestants, but in 1627, Prince Kristupas II Radvila returned it to the Catholics. The church is famous for its late Baroque altars and valuable works of art. From its hill, visitors can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the Kėdainiai Old Town.
The church is open to visitors during services, and since September 29, 2019, it has housed the relic of Blessed Teofilius Matulionis, which can be venerated on the first Friday of each month at 10 a.m.
