Kėdainiai Old Town is one of the seven protected urban heritage sites in Lithuania, preserving examples of Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classicist architecture. It features four market squares dating back to the 15th–17th centuries and an authentic street network. The town was first mentioned in 1372, and its urban layout began taking shape in the 16th century following the Valakas Land Reform.
The Old Town is like an open-air museum, where visitors can experience the 17th-century city atmosphere and the legacy of the Radziwiłł family. It is a place where authentic historical buildings, rather than reconstructions, have been preserved. Here, you will find shops, cafés, hotels, and museums. The local tourism center offers guided tours in multiple languages, inviting both locals and visitors to explore the rich history of Kėdainiai.
