In Kėdainiai stands one of the most impressive natural monuments—the oldest oak tree in the city, with a circumference of 5.4 meters, a diameter of 1.70 meters, and a height of 23 meters. According to legend, this oak was planted by the famous pioneer of Lithuanian literature, Mikalojus Daukša, who was born in the nearby village of Babėnai. M. Daukša was a significant figure in Lithuanian culture and language—a thinker, humanist, and defender of the native language—who helped lay the foundations for the Lithuanian literary language and writing in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. This oak not only signifies the value of natural heritage but also serves as a reminder of important historical events and figures in the country.
