Džiugas Hill, also known as Džiugėnai Mound, is located in Telšiai District, 4 km west of Telšiai, in the village of Džiuginėnai. This glacial-origin mound rises on a saddle-shaped hill, surrounded on three sides by a stream valley and wetlands. It reaches a height of 181 meters above sea level, with a 20 x 40 m plateau. On its eastern side, a 2-meter-high embankment stands.
The mound was used between the 9th and 12th centuries. Excavations in 1967 uncovered 10th–12th century remains, hand-molded ceramics, and traces of an ancient settlement. In 1911, a treasure dating back to the 11th–12th centuries was discovered. According to legend, the hill conceals the grave of the Samogitian hero Džiugas, whose spirit is said to guard the site. From its peak, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views, including the distant Šatrija Hill.
