The church in Degaičiai has an interesting history, beginning in 1993 when local resident Juozas Šidlauskas decided that the village needed a church. An empty building that once housed a cultural center was chosen as a suitable location for this purpose. The idea was supported by other villagers, and in 1994, permission was granted to establish a chapel. That same year, the chapel was ceremoniously consecrated and named after St. Peter and Paul.
In 2012, the chapel was officially elevated to the status of a church, expanding its role within the local community. This sanctuary not only offers spiritual guidance but also serves as an important tourist site, reflecting the heritage of local culture and religion.
