Next to the monument dedicated to Vytautas Kernagis, the singer of "Kai sirpsta vyšnios Suvalkijoj" (When Cherries Ripen in Suvalkija), a unique underground tunnel has been established, connecting two parts of the city. This tunnel, adorned with portraits of various people, will enchant everyone. Inside the tunnel is the "Face Wall" – an artistic installation that brings together local residents and visitors. Created in 2016 by artists Vytenis Jakas and Ieva Olimpija Voroneckytė, this idea aims to create a cozier and more interesting underground passage
in Marijampolė. Thanks to their work, the tunnel has become a true city attraction, with impressive portraits of faces – thousands of smiling and thoughtful faces – drawing people from various places. Upon closer inspection of the tunnel walls, one can also find familiar faces, not always related to Marijampolė. This confirms that the "Face Wall" is indeed popular and attracts many visitors. If you want to immortalize yourself in this work, instructions can be found on the "City Face Wall – Marijampolė Portrait Gallery" Facebook page.
