Located 6 kilometers southeast of Liudvinavas in the Marijampolė Municipality, the Buktos Nature and Educational Trail has quickly become a popular attraction for visitors year-round. This trail is an excellent spot for family outings, where you can have a picnic with snacks and a campfire. The resting area, surrounded by forest, is just 700 meters from the educational trail and is well-equipped to meet the needs of tourists. It offers a great opportunity for families and children to spend time in nature, learning to identify trees, plants, mushrooms, and berries.
The resting area features a gazebo, swings, trash bins, and a toilet, while a special
fire pit allows for outdoor cooking, such as making soup and dining amid the trees. There is also a unique pond on site: one part has been renovated and enlarged, while the other remains a natural marsh to preserve the local ecosystem.
The Buktos Forest is of particular interest to botanists and naturalists. It is one of the most valuable forested areas in Lithuania, home to over 500 species of herbaceous plants. The Buktos Educational Trail offers two routes of 1.3 km and 1.7 km in length, with 7 stops where visitors can learn about scrublands, alluvial forests, swampy broadleaf forests, and the plant and animal species that inhabit the area.
