In Marijampolė, in the gymnasium's courtyard, stands a monument to the renowned linguist Jonas Jablonskis. Unveiled in 1992, the monument was created by the well-known Lithuanian sculptor and local resident Petras Aleksandravičius. The monument is named after one of Jonas Jablonskis's pseudonyms, Rygiškių Jonas, which recalls his birthplace in the village of Rygiškiai in the Šakiai district.
The gymnasium where the monument stands is also named after Jonas Jablonskis, and the monument symbolizes his contribution to the culture and education of the Lithuanian language. The monument and its establishment serve as an important symbol of culture and education in Marijampolė.
