The hillfort is situated on a land promontory extending into the Žuvintas Marshes. The hillfort area is triangular in shape, elongated in a north-south direction, measuring 25 meters long and 20 meters wide at the southern end. The slopes of the hillfort are moderately steep,
rising up to 10 meters high. The hillfort has been significantly disturbed by farming and trenching work for a triangulation tower. Gravel was extracted from the southeastern part of the site, but now the area is overgrown, with stones up to 1.2 meters in diameter remaining on the surface. In 2001, a cross was erected in the hillfort area in memory of the Liepakojai village, created by Ignas Gaulė. A causeway once existed between the hillfort and the elevated area where the Riečių Church of the Holy Trinity now stands. The hillfort dates back to the 1st millennium AD.
